Professional certifications are an excellent way to demonstrate to prospective employers or future clients the relevant experience and technical skills necessary to do the job. Certification holders typically earn more than their uncertified peers, making certifications an important tool for advancing one’s career. This is proven in the latest report of Robert Half International Inc, organisations prefer to hire certified professionals, especially those who have college degrees and real-world experience to go along with them. The report also shows that professionals who dedicate time and effort to obtain credentials can expect larger salaries and quicker movement up the career ladder.

95% of organisations believe that professional certification adds value to an organisation based on a report from Global Knowledge. The skills learned in certification training provide a great amount of value to teams and organisations. This report also mentioned that IT professionals tend to be more effective in their jobs after getting certification because of the training investment required. Especially with the practical hands-on training, individuals can learn new skills that easily translate to the workplace. These same people make an immediate and meaningful impact in their job. IT professionals with up-to-date knowledge, and certifications can quickly prove their skills in a particular technology or practice. They also have higher self-confidence about their skills and abilities.

Benefits of Enterprise Architecture (EA) Certifications
For enterprise architects, certifications are a great way to validate their EA skills. Enterprise architects will be in charge of aligning business and IT which is now has become an integral aspect of every successful business plan because organisations rely significantly on technology. For enterprise architects, EA certifications can help to improve employability because organisations will look for enterprise architects with specific certification for continuity in their existing transformation projects.
The Global IT Architect Association (IASA) offers comprehensive EA certification programmes that are technology vendor independent, established by a diverse group of technology senior architects practitioners collaboratively, and led by professional technology architects. According to their research, by mastering the 5 foundational pillars of skillsets as part of the IT Architecture Body of Knowledge (ITABoK), any enterprise architects can succeed anywhere. Their objective is to facilitate architects in evaluating, developing, validating, sharpening their abilities as enterprise architect practitioners in delivering valuable technology strategy for the business.
Organisations are increasingly indicating that they are more interested in upskilling their existing employees, since this is a great method to invest in the current workforce. Organisations can ensure that their employees are up to date on the current frameworks by certifying them as the enterprise architects. Certified enterprise architects have a stronger ability to expand and scale their business transformation efforts, as well as a higher productivity and efficiency in doing so. They also have more faith in the long-term viability of their initiatives, which goes beyond the term of any single enterprise architect.
Subsidised Training and Incentives
When formal training and certification are available, organisations must do all possible to ensure that employees have the opportunity to develop the skills they need, because it helps both the employee and the organisation. Government agencies, associations, and local training providers all play a part in the development and realization of a digital nation through the competency development of its citizen and formal training with professional certification programme.
In Singapore, the Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore (IBF) encourages local workforce to upskill and reskill in order to adapt and grow through the training scheme, IBF Standards Training Scheme (IBF-STS). This scheme provides up to 95% funding subsidies for training programmes accredited under the Skills Framework for Financial Services.
In Malaysia, MyDigitalWorkforce Work in Tech (MYWiT) is an initiative by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) that incentivise employers to hire Malaysians via digital upskilling and reskilling programmes with training subsidy. In addition, the Asian Banking School (ABS) in Malaysia is also assisting organisations in upgrading the future skillset of the workforce through EA learning especially for the financial services industry.
